40th VGC Rally at Pociunai (Lituania)
The annual gathering of vintage gliders, organized by the Vintage Glider
Club (VGC) took place this year from 30th July to 9th August, at Pociunai
in Lithuania, a few miles from Kaunas. For some it was a long journey,
but in the end all agreed: "It was worth it!"
But let's see some numbers. The gliders officially registered and enrolled
at the event were about 70, but we could say that there were over eighty
in the field, considering the vintage gliders belonging to the Pociunai
club. Over one hundred pilots were registered from more than twenty foreign
countries. In all, between pilots and visitors, has exceeded the number
of 300. Excellent the organization of the club to meet in full the number
of appearances.
The flights were carried out on three tow power lines, plus two with winch
launch.
Fine evenings were organized by the Pociunai
Club as well as a children gliding camp with a training glider LAK-15A.
